Europe’s biggest bluegrass camp will celebrate its 25th season on 2020. It will be a very special week for a very special camp. Over the years it has welcomed musicians of all standards and those who have been there already will know that quality of tuition is high, the jams are long and sleep is short. It all takes place in the beautiful grounds of Kingham School in the heart of Oxfordshire UK.
Each day starts with a very good humoured general assembly of teachers and students, and then classes go on through the whole day. The evenings are filled with teachers’ concerts, jams and special sessions on various and wide-ranging musical topics. During the week scratch bands are organised and rehearsed for the Student’s Concert on the Friday evening. These great bluegrass musicians will be teaching and playing:
Bass – Missy Raines
Banjo – Ned Luberecki
Dobro – Mark Witcher
Fiddle – Becky Buller
Guitar 1 – Peter McLaughlin
Guitar 2 – Ross Martin
Mandolin – Mike Compton
Singing – Dede Wyland
Song Writing – Wil Maring
It is not just a bluegrass camp it is also for old-time muscians, so the mix and match works really well.
