Simon Rick

ON August 10th 2019 we mourn the loss of one of Europe’s most talented musicians and a good friend to many in the bluegrass world. Guitarist Simon Rick died following a tragic road accident. He will be sadly missed for being the man that he was. Our hearts go out to his family and his musical buddy Erwin.

He is best remembered in the words of his friend Andre Dal:

“The European Bluegrass Community just lost one of the best guys and flatpickers in the world. I’m not over myself and I’m feeling really down. He was one of my best friends and someone who we all should look up to. I’ll forever remember the late jams I had with him, either in Voorthuizen, La Roche or Grevengrass. Those were definitely some of the best jams I’ve been and I’ll cherish those moments as long as I live. I’m really sorry for his brothers in life, David Rick and his family, and in music, Erwin Van de Ven. The Old Time Hayride was the favourite act of a lot a people including myself. So, here’s a song of them playing. So long, Simon Rick. I love you dearly.”
