This year the iconic bluegrass instrumentalist Missy Raines sat down with us in LaRoche to talk about collaboration and stepping out as a songwriter and singer on her latest album Royal Traveller, as well as her personal journey on the road to becoming one of Nashville‘s most beloved musicians.
She also tells us how she has experienced bluegrass in Europe and why innovation is the key to the continued development of bluegrass everywhere. Watch the interview and find out:
What does it mean to be a royal traveller?
Why was working with Compass Records owner and founder Alison Brown to produce Royal Traveller, further reaching and bigger than she could have imagined?
How was it to collaborate on the album with the First Ladies of Bluegrass, as well as bluegrass greats Stuart Duncan and Tim O’Brien?
And, what was it like to be on stage with Guest of Honor Dolly Parton at the 2019 Newport Folk Festival?
Missy has been active teaching in various music camps in Europe and will once again be participating at the immensely popular Sore Fingers Summer School in the UK in 2020
